Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take original submissions?
Yes! We are now a paying market and open to submissions of poetry and nonfiction. In the future, we are looking to begin accepting works of flash fiction and/or short stories, but cannot do so at this moment of time.
Do you still take submissions of close-readings?
Absolutely! It's what we were created for! See the "Submissions" tab for details.
Who is allowed to submit to Alegrarse?
The rule is simple: Be kind. Alegrarse does not accept work indicative of racism, hatred, bigotry, or needless violence. If you do so feel inclined to submit this kind of work, it will be immediately rejected, and you will be placed on a blacklist, unable to submit again. We will not receive any future emails from you. Alegrarse is not a space for hatred or aggression; in Spanish, "alegrarse" means "to celebrate," or "to rejoice." As such, we are dedicated to publishing inclusive, important work, that praises our differences and brings us closer together.
How can I stay updated with Alegrarse?
Sign up for our newsletter! Besides mentioning everything that's up & coming for our own publication, we'll be sure to share submission opportunities for journals that we support, news in the poetry community, and more. You can also follow us on Twitter @AlegrarseLit
